Our cultural background affects everything we do. Different beliefs and values about child rearing, expectations for discipline of children, major cultural and religious events, the parent-educator relationship, as well as different communication styles make it complicated to forge meaningful relationships with families from diverse cultures. This workshop will help educators to see how their own cultural lens affects these dynamics. Educators will leave feeling more comfortable and with a better understanding of how to plan for their program. Learning how to become sensitive to different beliefs and values allows for more effective communication and enhanced relationships with families and children in a way that promotes true diversity.
